< Back to The 39 Clues Reviews Page

Suggested Activities

Looking through Book 3, you will find Asia full of neat places. Just a few ideas we gleaned from the chapters include:

  • Investigate Roppong, an area of Japan (formerly known as Edo)

  • Shoguns and shogunate

  • The Tokyo Tower

  • The Tokyo Metropolitan Library

  • Was Hideyoshi in 16th century Japan real? Look it up and find out!

  • Possible experiments with iron solute (used in ink) and tungsten (used in light bulbs) p. 39

  • This series relies on neat codes that need to be cracked by Amy and Dan. Can students create their own code out of combinations of prime factors (p. 102)?

  •  Find out more about alchemy and the philosopher’s stone (p. 106)

  • What is gunpowder made of? Look into its origin and elements and perhaps continue on an experiment from book 1!
